Hey Frank!! I'll see you in a few days, I guess!

I may not be able to make it to the meet & greet at the Miccosukee on Saturday night, so probably meet you Sunday morning. They are supposed to be picking me up from the Hilton before getting the rest of the gang, so if you don't see me on the shuttle please make sure they didn't forget about me!!

Default What a blast! :)

Hey Frank! It was awesome to meet you down in Miami. I hope your drive home was good! Let me know how the Ford GT was??

See the General Discussion section for a short video of 3 runs that I caught on film while were at the halfway observing point. I plan to write a review of my own and upload many pictures later. Until then, here's a one for ya!

Ramon

Default WCD regular event May 9,2009

Ramon, the regular event in Bandera Texas was great. The cars that were there were the Audi R8, the Lamborghini LP 560, the Calloway Corvette, the Alfa Romeo 8C, and the Ford GT. I was disappointed that there were no Ferraris this time. The Scuderia and the 599 were still in the shop. The Macleran SLR was also out of commission because it had broken down again. You would think that a car that cost $460K would be more reliable.
In a way, I'm glad it broke down, because the Ford GT took it's place. I finally got to drive it. It was really fast and had tons of torque. Because of the torque, it wasn't necessary to shift very much. I kept it in fourth gear most of the time. The Ford GT needs to be driven with finesse because it doesn't have any driver aids such as abs and traction control. It got the most attention when we stopped to change drivers.
The Alfa Romeo had an amazing exhaust note. The steering wasn't too great, though. I had to continually wrestle with the steering wheel to keep the car in a straight line. The WCD guys told me that it came to them that way. Unbelievable, considering it cost $280K.
The supercharger on the Calloway Corvette would really howl when the pedal was put to the metal. It sounded as if the car was screaming. When it kicked in, it was like being in a rocket sled.
I like the Audi R8 more each time I drive it. It's an easy car to drive, and really civilized.
Last, but not least, the LP560 that was used for the xtreme event was still as great a car as ever.
I did this event because I wanted to see how it would be after the xtreme event. It was fun, but boring by comparison.

I have include a few photos from the event.

Thanks for the update, Frank! Yeah, I'd imagine that the event would feel a little "subdued" after the Xtreme day. Cool that you got to drive the 8C, although sounds like you were somewhat disappointed with it. But still, not many people can say they have even seen one of those, let alone drive it!!

Nice pics!! I definitely miss that LP560!

Default Wcd xtreme

Ramon, I thought you would be interested in this. When I did the regular event in Bandera last April, Roland and Didiey said they were heading up to Dallas for the next regular event. On the way, they were planning on checking out a proving grounds, I believe, owned by Chrysler, for a possible xtreme event. It has a 4 mile oval.

If you check the WCD site, you will see that they do in fact have an xtreme event scheduled in December of this year around San Antonio.

Amy can probably give you more info.

Well, that just might warrant a trip to San Antonio! The 4 mile oval would probably be much safer than the airport and also easier to max out the cars' top end.
